Center for Media and Communication Studies (CMCS)

In partnership with the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and Stanhope Center, London, CEU’s Center for Media and Communication Studies (CMCS) is a member institution in an international project, aiming to address the challenges facing media and communication studies. These are framed both as a wider approach in relevant disciplines like political science, sociology or legal studies, and as a novel theoretical attempt for a better understanding of problems of innovation, meaning, sovereignty, cultural processes, etc.
CMCS conducts research projects, organizes conferences and workshops, and offers courses in mediarelated subjects. The center collaborates with the public policy department’s Media, Information and Policy Stream, and with the political science department in the specialization in Political Communication. The center welcomes students to discuss their work with CMCS researchers, to participate in CMCS’ activities, and to approach its staff with any media-related ideas and projects.
